Racial Equality Policy
Racial Equality Policy
Riverina Raptors FC has a zero-tolerance approach to racism in any form. We are committed to promoting racial equality and ensuring our club is a welcoming place for people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Our Commitment
- We believe that football should be accessible to everyone, regardless of race, colour, ethnicity, or national origin.
- We will not tolerate racist language, gestures, chanting, or behaviour from any player, official, coach, volunteer, spectator, or member.
- We will challenge and address racial inequality wherever it exists within the club.
- We will promote positive role models from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds in all aspects of club life.
Definitions
Racial harassment includes any conduct — verbal, written, physical, or digital — that is directed at a person because of their race, colour, ethnic origin, or nationality, and which is unwanted, offensive, or creates a hostile environment.
Reporting Racism
Any person who experiences or witnesses racism at the club should:
- Report the incident to a referee, match official, or club representative immediately if it occurs during a match.
- Report the incident to the Club Secretary or a committee member as soon as possible after the event.
- If the incident constitutes a criminal offence, contact NSW Police.
All reports will be treated seriously, handled with confidentiality, and investigated promptly.
Consequences
Any individual found to have engaged in racist conduct will face disciplinary action. Depending on the severity, this may include a formal warning, suspension, or permanent exclusion from the club. The club will also refer serious incidents to Football NSW for further action where appropriate.
Education and Awareness
The club will undertake ongoing education and awareness initiatives to promote racial equality, including sharing resources, participating in Football NSW campaigns such as Kick It Out, and fostering open dialogue within the club community.
